Fall Concert -- The San Juan Master Chorale, under the direction of Amber Laurdisen, will present its first Fall Concert on Saturday, November 14, at 7 p.m. at Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church. Doors open at 6:30.
Randall Thompson was commissioned to compose a piece for the bicentennial of the city of Amherst, Mass., well-known as the home of the poet Robert Frost. Thompson selected seven poems by Frost and set them to music for mixed chorus and piano in a song cycle. Orchestration was added later. It premiered in Amherst in October 1959, a performance attended by Frost himself, who jumped up at the end of the piece and cried, “Sing that again!”
San Juan Master Chorale concerts are presented as a gift to the community for donations only.
